Generally speaking, the specification used for gaskets is the same as for flanges. Commonly selected specifications are: Chinese national Code (GB), mechanical industry code (JB/T), chemical industry code (HG), international code (ISO) and so on.
(2) Determine the nominal size and nominal pressure of the sealing gasket
The nominal size and pressure of the gasket are the same as the flange. Such as: DN100 - PN2.5.
(3) determine the type of sealing gasket
According to the nominal pressure and the highest temperature of the medium to determine the type of gasket selected. It is mainly divided into flexible graphite, ptfe, rubber, non-asbestos fiber gasket and surround gasket, corrugated live pressure gasket, oval gasket and octagonal gasket. Because asbestos gaskets are gradually screened for environmental protection and health reasons, this paper does not recommend their use.
(4) determine the way of sealing gasket
There are four main types of gasket: nonmetal gasket, surround gasket, metal composite gasket and metal gasket. The detailed gasket type shall be selected according to the flange type and the technical parameters provided by each manufacturer.
(5) determine the raw materials and types of sealing gaskets
The raw material of sealing gasket should be determined according to the temperature, pressure and corrosion function of the medium, and then determine the type of gasket according to the above content. There are usually six types of gaskets: gasket type, raw material, nominal size, nominal pressure, specification number, manufacturer or brand.
